They say once you fly a Spitfire you will throw rocks at a Mustang. Just for fun I was researching the empty weights of the two and found the P-51D weighs 7,630 and the latest greatest Spit with the Griffon weighs 2,000 pounds less, and the MK-1 weighs over 3,000 pounds less than a Mustang. Thats an amazing difference and would count for significant performance differences. FWIW

Keep in mind all these figures are off websites and not POHs
