Hi,
I am currently investigating the configurations of small, single seat aircraft, and have run into an anomaly which I'm hoping someone on the forum can sort out for me...

When comparing the Corby Starlet and the Taylor monoplane, I was struck on the on hand, by how similar they are in appearance and configuration, but how differently they perform. For example:

Corby Starlet:
HP:75hp
Empty weight: 450lbs
AUW: 650 - 750lbs
Wing span: 18'6"
Wing area: 68 sq ft
Stall: 35mph
Cruise: 130mph
Vmax: 160mph

Taylor Monoplane:
HP:??? (VW - approx 75hp?)
Empty weight: 450lbs
AUW: 650 - 700lbs
Wing span: 21'
Wing area: 76 sq ft
Stall: 43mph
Cruise: 92mph
Vmax: ???

Now, to my way of looking, these planes *should* cruise (and stall/Vmax) at similar speeds. But the figures are *way* off. Anyone have any idea why?

Regards,
Duncan
