Yes. that is a design that I am sure its parents loved, but others poilitely look away.

There is just so much wrong about it.............. the ancestral Fokker DVIII DNA so badly abused. It is criminal.

Any of the Shorts series of cargo aircraft makes that list. Wonderfully functional but ugly. The Pilatus PC-12 is another one of those that works wonderfully but they certainly didn't think much about the external aesthetics.

I'm a pilot and I disagree with that statement. Although given my "airplanes are a tool" attitude, I might be missing out on the "mystique" of flying that enamors so many of my compatriots.

Wow, I thought I could name some, but apparently my brain has erased any memory of the ugly ones, kind of like someone who blocks out traumatic events. :gig:

Let's see.... would the Wilga or Warthog qualify? They are unconventional looking, but each has its endearing traits (and they fly). Give me time... I'll come up with something!

As for the Dyke Delta, I would agree that it looks ungainly on the ground, but I think it looks OK in the air.

I don't think that's really fair to point at that as an example of the King Air. You want to talk an ugly Beech, look at the 1900/1900D. That's an ugly Beech!

IMO, any of the "Flying Flea" series of aircraft are about as ugly a design as anyone can come up with. Never understood why anyone would want one of those things, much less fly one. If memory serves they were originally designed in France....Well, enough said there....

Yeah, for the light or homebuilt aircraft side of things, the Sonex is about the ugliest thing out there.
