The thought occurred to me this morning that one of the problems with a turbocharged aircraft using some of its bleed air to pressurize the cabin is that it's going to decrease high altitude performance. Are there any systems (or has anyone tried) using a stand-alone supercharger or something similar (like a lightweight electric pump of some sort) to pressurize the cockpit while leaving the engine out of the equation?
