Hello,
I’ve been talking with a friend who is into large scale RC models. He was showing me the plans for a 1/5 scale Ta-152 and a question formed in my head. Can a full size airplane use a spar constructed like a model, I.e. using spar caps across the top and bottom of the wing ribs and then plywood shear webs glued to the caps between the ribs and glued to the ribs as well? Do shear webs need to be continuous from root to tip?
It’s late and I’m probably not making a lot of sense. I’ve tried searching the various forums here but didn’t find anything. I may not be using the correct terminology in the search engine. If someone can point me in the right direction I’d be happy to find the information myself.
