It seems my post on a 172-alike has sparked some interest.

So, to continue the exercise, let's consider the wing:

For ease of construction it seems these are the best options:
- Metal
- Blind-riveted
- Cantilever
- Hershey bar
- Plain flap

The tools, materials, and knowledge are common, and the low cost of CNC and laser cutting services means that rib-making has gotten significantly less time-consuming. One can now order precision-cut rib blanks from emachineshop.com!

With that in mind, let's start with the aerodynamics.

What sort of wing would we want that would:

- Be relatively forgiving to AoA excursions, and have relatively benign stall and post-stall characteristics.
- Be relatively forgiving to contamination such as rain, builder defects, dirt, and paint.
- Have a reasonably thick spar depth for strength
- Stall at 45KIAS with an 1800lb load

What sort of airfoil and planform would be best for these requirements?
