Here is a list of what I would like. I've been looking all over and just haven't found the right kit to build. In the time before I start until I finish it the engine choice may change. Here we go.
*metal or composite construction
*Aero-diesel engine from delta hawk or zoche. Hp range from 150, 160, 180, 200, 300. Prefer zoche 300 hp (you may think I'm crazy but take a look at the specs on their site, and it can be derated to a lower hp)
*Fixed landing gear. Preferably tricycle but will consider conventional gear.
*Great soft field capability with landing and takeoff less than 1000 ft
*2 seat with good useful load with full fuel (100lbs isn't that great) 4 seat will work also (will not install rear seats to make room)
*Tandem seating or side by side
*Actual cruise speed with lower power setting 140+ knots
*Endurance 5 1/2 hrs
*Range 700+ NM
*Stable platform for IFR
*Comfortable for long cross country
*High or low wing doesn't make a big deal
*I'm 5'11" 175lbs and passengers will be my size perhaps a bit heavier at times
* I have a prosthetic for my right leg below the knee. Easy access would be nice but more worried about being comfortable while in it.
* cost of everything but upholstery and avionics $60,000 or less. Will still consider if close to that.
*Cessna 182 seems to cover many of these if only it came as a kit.
I am a newbie so any and all suggestions and comments are appreciated
