Hi I am looking for a bd5 kit or parts to complete a bd5.I would also be interested in any complete airframes .Shipping would be to Sydney Australia so I understand that there would be an extra charge for crating etc.
I have a kit, fuselage is partly assembled as well as B wings wings. skins are no good but you need to update them to the 0.32 gauge anyway.

Another BD-5 bites the cabbage. Report says pilot reported trouble gaining altitude, then crashed in this cabbage field. From the pictures, it appears the airplane landed upright, hard, flipped burned, pilot dead.

Pilot was a long-time BD-5 owner

his FB page says he flew the airplane once in 2003 and tried again in 2018 "but it was not meant to be". I could not find what happened between 2018 and today. The pilot was clearly an airplane enthusiast but there is no indication on his FB page that he flew anything else recently.

Note, this airplane was not the original N501BD. Pilot got the number when the original expired

I would call this a pretty typical BD-5 accident.

Sad to see another accident involving the bd5.

I am still looking for a kit and parts though.I am determined to get one built and flying regardless.A good set of of completed wings and or other parts would be a good start.I have managed to track down some parts but completed wings would save a lot of time and effort for me.

I have 2 Kits i acquired and 3 Tiernay TT10-1 gas turbine engine (complete setup), with reduction gearbox and starter attached. One maybe 50% other 5%. Would sell, trade or prefer someone with space and interest to help finish both in trade for one. More info at http://knibbindustries.com/bd5/
Some Pictures are from previous builder projects. Lots of info and plans. Contact Randy

Hi! I also own one of the BD-5B kit. I have a question for you (randy knibb). Follow the link to the site: knibbindustries.com - /bd5/ the site you specified has a lot of useful information, but there are a lot of documents of very bad quality: CHAPT7PA, CHAPT1PA, CHAPT6PA. And many links are no longer active. I looked through its contents and didn't find the information I needed.
Can you tell me where I can still find out what wing airfoils are installed at the wing root and at the wing tip. They are the correct size. And what is the angle of attack of the wing installation when it is parked? I have no such information in the plan. Sincerely REM

I am in the process of moving from ca to co. everything is packed up right now and in 53 foot semi trailer. what is online is from a disk provided by previous builder. I do have all original full size plans and build manuals in the trailer. I can not access anything until i move the trailer to new ranch in co. Planes and parts were loaded first the machinery and tools and equipment last. I will not be able to offload truck for a few months due to snow and building new hanger.

Sorry, will provide more info when i can.

Would any of the 3 turbines be for sale at reasonable cost. Ive always wanted a turbine to mess with and thoughts of a turboprop hummel ultracruiser has crossed my mind recently.

Not at this time. in a move to co all plane stuff in trailer first, last to unload. I do not believe you can use a turbine in LSA or ultralight. I have a skyraider i thought of putting one in but was advised i would not be legal then. Do some research before you buy one. I expect 4 to 6 months before i can off load my equipment and planes.

Turbine can't be used in LSA at this time but is perfectly legal in an ultralight, as long as the aircraft otherwise meets the ultralight limits.
