I've seen lots of pictures of a wing (usually upside down) or even just the spar being loaded with sandbags to perform static testing.

How can static testing be performed on the fuselage to evaluate the structural soundness under bending or buckling loads? What other physical tests can be performed on the aircraft (without flying it) to verify calculations? Ideally, none of these testing methods should require heavy duty, pricey industrial equipment.

For composites, I've read up on coupon testing but that's just for evaluating the properties of a laminate not an entire structure.
