Hi folks, haven't been in here in a while. Life gets in the way. At any rate, I was talking an EAA member at Sun n Fun and we came on the topic of buying a used Cessna 150. I told him a buddy of mine had just bought one and he said "So its got a run out engine. It runs fine but its got nothing left. Get ready to spend money."
So now I'm confused and have a ton of questions. What exactly does "run out" mean? Does that mean that every 150 or 152 or 172 or 140 or Aeronca or Luscombe is gonna need a new engine? And if that's the case then why do we bother to rebuild anything then? I have a Semi truck with a CAT diesel and I rebuilt it and basically have a new engine. I understand its a diesel but the concept is the same. Jegs sells rebuilt engines for cars. Are aircraft engines so different from these?
I just don't get it. Any help would be appreciated as I have lofty goals of purchasing a C150 someday myself. Thanks
