Just saw in the news where a small plane (reportedly a Cherokee) hit the Federal building in Austin, Texas. Though eyewitness reports from the public-at-large for airplane accidents tend to be wildly inaccurate, reports here all tend to support the view that the engine was running at a high power setting and the plane appeared to make a last second turn into the building. My initial impression from the reports are that it may have been intentional, though I am hoping it was not. I think that it is noteworthy that the IRS civil enforcement and criminal investigations office is on the first floor of the building right where the plane impacted.
Officials and Federal agency reps at the scene are calling it an accident, with no indication of international terrorism. Let's hope that this is not used to increase regulations and restrictions on small private planes.
