So I talked to my machine shop today and my plan was originally to have my engine case 'hot tanked' to clean it up. However, my guy informed me that the tank they use for aluminum parts will remove grease and not much else. Grease isn't my problem, but paint is. My new plan is to clean up the case manually but I would like to get the paint off in favour of a fresh coat when I'm done. Can I use conventional paint stripper on an aluminum case? I'd like to loosen it up with a chemical stripper and finish up with a pressure washer. Anyone have experience with this?
