Okay, Im guessing this should go here.

Anyway, my idea is a questionable one. Both in terms of affordability, the legalities of it(pilot license/registration, etc), and possibilities of it even being able too get off the ground and the mechanics.

I had an idea for some sort of light flyer involving bladders of helium or hydrogen for lift and a battery powered fan for propulsion, semi-fixed wings made of maybe parachute silk for the fabric, and a flexible tail/rudder for steering. The rough shape/form being like that of a bird/dragon for lack of a better way to describe it.

What kind of materials would be light enough to keep it off the ground but offer enough strength and durability to stand up to the rigours of the wind and potential mistakes as we are all wont to do when trying out something new for the first time.

Is a battery powered fan even feasible? Using a car battery for instance.

What sort of instruments should it have?

Ive never had much of an interest in planes before, and have never had the chance to go hang gliding or the like, so Im really green when it comes to aircraft and flight mechanics.

Ill answer any question to the best of my ability that anyone may have about it. As Ive only really gone over this idea in my head at work. And what may work in your mind does not allways work in the real world.

Thank you all for your time and Id ove to hear your feed back.

Take Care All.
