I have a question regarding the benefits/drawbacks of high vs low or mid wing planes. I did a search, but most of the discussion leaned toward the plane's stability and whether or not it's all about dihedral. My question is more one about differences in performance.

I did find one post in my searches that suggested there would be less induced (I think?) drag with a high winged plane compared with a low wing plane. Somewhere, on another site I think, I read an opinion, with all things as equal as possible, that the cruise speed of a high wing plane vs a low wing or mid wing would be higher because the wing would be more out of the direct prop wash. Any merit to that idea?

Thanks, in advance.

Lynn
