A quick search of HBA for the term "monowheel" will find quite a few discussions that touch on single main landing gear arrangements, but they are usually referring to the taildragger variety with single main gear ahead of the CG, a tailwheel or tailskid, and outrigger wheels or skids.
Are there any circumstances in which bicycle landing gear (main gear behind the CG, nosewheel, and outrigger wheels or skids) might be advantageous? Any special pros or cons over the taildragger monowheel layout?
To be clear, I don't mean single main gear far behind the CG like the Harrier (placed there because of the enormous lift engine in the central fuselage), I mean bicycle gear located similarly to tricycle gear on a Cessna but with only one main gear.
