Anybody know what kind of g-loads cars and trucks are designed for? Easy to find design load factors for the various aircraft categories, not so much for road vehicles. I've seen numbers of 3g vertical for race cars, and another site said 3.7g at the tire patch for trucks (5g for offroad), but no other confirmation of those numbers.

I ask because our camper has a bumper mounted trailer hitch. The way it's cantilevered out from the vehicle frame, it's not very strong, with some marginal welding. We use it to mount a cargo box for lightweight stuff, but my wife wants to get a scooter, which with the rack will weigh around 250#. I'm trying to get an idea of the loads it will see bouncing down the highway so I can (re)design an approproiate structure.
