Recently recovered a Pacer wing in Ceconite. Sent in the 337:. Wing recovered with Ceconite process STC Number blablabla, using Ceconite procedure manual". All the usual stuff.
Guy at FSDO comes back with "what kind of coatings were used"? Huh? It says "Ceconite procedure, Ceconite manua, Ceconite STC."
So I sent them the same thing again and added "... using Ceconite approved Randolph nitrate and butyrate dopes."
FSDO comes back with "How many coats?".
Seriously.
At this point the owners got a lawyer involved. Apparently the FSDO person was giving them other hassles too, for no real reason. He has zero knowledge of aircraft apparently. No idea how he go a job there but he is determined to just make his presence known.
I just saw an a for a Citabria for sale, for a very reasonable price. Apparently the owner has reached the end of his sanity dealing with FAA BS and is giving up flying. I totally understand how he feels.
Almost every day I hear stories of the sheer idiocy of these bureaucrats, combined with their personal malice that makes our lives miserable. My friend had been trying to get his medical - denied because the FAA has paperwork on him where his name appeared both as Gerry and Gerald. Oh my God, it must have given them heart attacks!
It's been going on for a year....
My own Aeronca registration fight is on its tenth month now. Likely be a year before they are satisfied with pi..ing me off and actually put the paperwork in the system. And then it will be another 6 months before somebody can bothered to put it in the computer.
I know we have to play the game but
at what point does one say, screw this and buy a sailboat instead?
