Hi guys,

Like many folks here, I am currently working on a homebuilt aircraft. In my case, a sonex. Also like many here, I am interested in learning more about design and one day designing my own aircraft. Which leads me to a question. How can I maximize the learning experience during my plans built project for my future design goals?

What I am doing right now, as I build, is using the basics of what I know to analyze my project/plane. I have books with formulas for calculating aircraft performance (Donald Crawford's "Practical guide to performance and design" being one), and Rhodes' "stress without tears". I'm using these books (among others) to get started before I go on to more in depth texts.

So what other ideas do you guys have for using your plansbuilt or kit project as a tool for learning more about design?
