I want to use a wooden, 4 blade propeller that is 4x48"x20". I want a 1/8 inch thick 2 inch deep slice of aluminum cyclinder (safety shroud) attached to the outside, with outer tips shaved for good attachment. Shroud will be flush with front of prop, and extend behind it.
I hope to get 1600rpm using human power and multispead bicycle gears for a 1:20 ratio.
I'm a cyclist. Do you think I can spin it at 1600 rpm after working my way up through the speeds to 1:20?
How many pounds of thrust would I get from that 4x48"x20" wooden prop at 1600 rpm? (assuming it is possible to turn it that fast)
Thank you.
(I really hope I can get 25 pounds, but I heard I'd need 5 hp to do that, and that people are 0.5 hp)
