I thought this was worthy of its own thread so I started one.
My question is this: Given a fairly restrictive maximum empty weight limit, is it better to focus on some sort of safety cage and crumple structure to survive a crash, focus on stability and controllability to help prevent a crash, or can you really have it both ways?
Personally, I'm not too terribly worried about crashworthiness of anything moving at less than 70mph. I'm also not currently designing an ultralight airplane but I do think this could lead to some interesting discussion.
