It seems to me that a lot of the left/right distinctions in helicopters are backwards to fixed-wing: pilot on the right, right pattern, etc, etc.
1. Is this true?
2. Is there a good reason for it, GIVEN that fixed-wing aircraft have the opposing orientation?
3. Are there objective reasons for it if there were no opposing traditions?
