What are the advantages and disadvantages of a V tail design

Looking at ideas for narrowing the width of tail surfaces for trailering an airplane. I would think that a V tail would be lighter
overall with the elimination of the vertical tail, but wondering about effectiveness, response, airflow paths, etc.
Besides Beech, any other good examples of V tail aircraft?
