I see that most control stick grips assume a 1" stick diameter, but shims form 0.75" are common. Is there a downside to the smaller sticks? How about going even smaller, to 0.625" or so? (This is for a side stick, so loads will be lower.) Rules of thumb? I ask because I think I've found a cute design for the mixer (elevons) that requires a high-misalignment spherical bearing on the stick, and the 1" ID bearings are surprisingly heavy and awkward.
