Hello ,
There is a lot of activity around STOL aircraft nowadays, because of the popularity of STOL competitions in the recent years.
Pretty well all of the serious competitors have "slats".
The only aerodynamic information about slats I could find, was in Hoerner's books about Aerodynamic Lift and Aerodynamic Drag.
The construction and use of slats on STOL airplanes today, seems only by the trial and error method.
Does anybody know of a source of information about slats a bit more "scientific"?

Thank you H. Upload Video
