I have in mind a bone-simple box fuselage with vertical sides and horizontal top and bottom, no turtledeck, just flat. Think of an Evans Volksplane VP-2 but wider and without the projecting spar bulkheads or forward fuel tank, just a flat top from the firewall to the tail. An oversized original TEAM Minimax also comes to mind. Only the head and shoulders of the pilot and passenger, the seat backs, a roll bar, and perhaps an instrument pod would project above top longerons.
I am looking for inspiration for a simple, easy to build, inexpensive and effective cockpit canopy or cabin top. By "cabin top" here I mean a canopy-like arrangement that is not entirely transparent but still opens for access. No molded or blown canopies, just flat transparent sheets used "as is" or bent cold in a single curve. I would prefer a one-piece arrangement that simply hinges forward or to one side, but a windscreen is not a dealbreaker. Any ideas?
