Figured I'd ask but after watching a Project Farm video its seemed clear that a helicoil insert makes bolt holes in Al much stronger.
Would this be a smart move for head bolts? Only thing i can think of is the Al expansion might losen the insert, but from the tests done in the video it significantly increases the bolt holding strength.
Or is this just not a concern? Do race type motors still use factory tapped holes in Al?
Thoughts?
