Since I've been looking for an incompleted or rebuild project I've run across a few "Fat Heavie's" the owner's failed to certify as E- LSA during the grace period. Some of these are very nice aircraft at very fair prices...but...can no longer be registered/certified as E-LSA.
So the question is could they be registered as Experimental's by the owner and then sold?
Or, could the buyer purchase them, tear them down, then rebuil or in effect build them all over again but staying within the 51% rule by fabricating enough new parts themselves?
Yes, I already know to check with a Tech Adviser or FAA rep, have heard that one before, just wondered if anyone here has done this yet or gotten an answer.
