Hello im a new member to this forum have just finished my Bearhawk 4 place after 16 years of building from scratch. I STARTED THE BUILD in June 2005, and the first flight was November 23, 2022, 16 years later. The empty weight came in at 1,532 pounds, and the CG is at 10.85. The engine is a Lycoming IO-540-C4B5 with a standard Bendix RSA type fuel-injection system, E-MAG ignition system series 200-6XL, and Vetterman Exhaust complete with exhaust heaters. The propeller is a Hartzell HC-C2YK-1BF with a 4-inch Saber Mfg. prop extension and an MT P-860-5 governor. For the panel, I used a Dynon Avionics SkyView Classic electronic flight instrument system with a single primary flight display, dual comm, Mode S transponder, ADS-B, two-place intercom, two-axis autopilot, moving map, and engine monitor. I have Aero Ski M2000 skis with a spring bungee, and it’s also set up for EDO 2870 floats. The wet wing integral fuel tank system has a capacity of 257 liters (68 U.S. gallons). The aircraft was covered with Stewart Systems fabric and painted with a base of Insignia White, Firethorn Red, Bahama Blue, and Smoke gray striping, using a paint mask. Ray Allen electronic servos, one mounted in each elevator, drive the pitch trim, while rudder trim is handled by the servo mounted in the rudder. The main entry is through gullwing doors opening to the wing lower surface with gas struts as hold-open rods. Hoerner-style wingtips were fabricated using foam cut to shape and covered with two layers of carbon fiber, and one layer of fiberglass mounted edges was built up to stiffen them. They weigh in at 3.5 pounds each.
