A friend of mine told me a story about the last flight he and his wife took in their plane that had me busting up! He has been a pilot for awhile, his wife gained her license last year. In accordance to the principle of "happy wife, happy life". he allows her to do most of the flying.
On their most recent flight, he was talking to her through the pattern, offering her suggestions on how to improve her approach. Both are faithful church-goers, and she asked if she could offer a quick prayer before their landing. He agreed and fell silent while she offered the prayer, which went, "Lord, please bless us with a sterile cockpit."
Sometimes, a little finesse in telling someone to shut-up can stop a rebuttal in its tracks.
