I'd seriously be interested in a thread for home brew BRS. I'd expect Riggerrob to be a valuable source of information/advice/experience.
The earlier systems seem to have been validated, at least before actual airborne tests, by simply deploying from the back of a moving truck.
We don't need any pyrotechnics. Compressed air has been shown to work. ASTM has standards to follow.
