I am very curious now about the G ratings of airplanes. What really sparked my interest was seeing the flying farmer act. The J3 has low G ratings yet he did some insane stall, side slip, loops, and knife edge manuuvers.

I've read in AOPA Flight Training a woman doing aerobatics with a citabria.
Any info on how G ratings are done? how do you know if the wing is going to snap or not? Why did the Piper survive those manuvers?
