The History Channel is currently running a program on Hitler's "super weapons".

The mentioned that the Heinkel 280 was the first jet aircraft, the first prototype being built in 1940. The better known ME262 wasn't until 1941.

The 280 may have been first, but the 262 was picked as being superior.

Nice looking plane, by the way. Engines mounted on the bottom surface of the wing (not on pylons), with an H tail. Same sleek outline as the 262.
