Hey guys, I have a question about steel tube truss fuselages. I know I can sit down and do the math myself but it's just to settle a curiosity for the time being and hopefully one of you has been down this road already.
My question is which would be lighter assuming the strength and external shape were the same: a four longeron fuselage like a Tailwind where the longerons are out at the corners, or a three longeron fuselage (one upper spine and two lower longerons) with non-structural wood formers and stringers to achieve the final shape like you see on just about any Aeronca?
