Hi guys i am currently looking at constructing the fuel tank straps for my plane, the plans call for straps to be made from .050 stainless steel which i dont have in stock but wondering if there is an equivalent strength chart to use aluminium straps instead. I have a lot of .032 2024 spare but haven't been able to find any strength conversions to see if i can use the aluminium instead of stainless steel. What i am looking for is, is it possible to use say 2 straps of .032 2024 doubled together which would be the equivalent of .05 stainless or any other combination. The tanks will be 60 litres and 30 litres in size respectively.

any thoughts

Nick
