When I was a growing up I used to build chuck gliders of my own design with a very unique purpose in mind. I was fascinated by utilizing a headwind to hover. When the conditions were right I could toss my glider into the breeze and it would remain aloft for several seconds, apparently hovering till it gradually settled to the ground. I've always thought it would be fun to use a foot launched glider in the same conditions and just float a few feet above the ground.

Anybody else fascinated by this?
