I'm in the middle of a detailed design of the main spar for a tail fin - and I'm trying to figure out how to distribute the aerodynamic forces on the rudder to the hinges, as shear forces applied to the fin spar.
Two hinges is no problem - as that's a statically determinate problem.
Three hinges appears to be statically indeterminate...
Does anyone know the industry practice for this case?
Am I going to have to model the entire structure in FEA?
