My question is how to couple two one cylinder Briggs engines to make one reliable aviation two cylinder engine? Or two V-2 engines to make a V-4? Specifically, how to couple the crankshaft to transfer the full loads and possible torsional vibrations.
I considered various couplers. I think splined couplers might be best, but it would need a press fit, I think. Difficult to assemble.
Ordinary 1” coupler with a single key doesn’t seam reliable.
