In researching ideas for a fast efficient cross country plane I've started looking at motor gliders. From what i under high aspect ratio wings are good for low drag at low speeds and low aspect ratios are better for high speeds as well as being stiffer and thus being able to be built lighter. My question is at what speeds do high aspect ratio wings loose out to the low and just how light can a low aspect ratio wing be compared to a high aspect ratio wing if all other factors are the same. Mission can of my concept can be described as 2 occupants at my weight of 250 pounds each bringing up to 75 pounds and enough fuel for a powered flight range of 1000 miles as quickly as possible with the greatest fuel economy possible.
