I am in the initial faze of figuring out how to proceed with building the cowling for the Barracuda I'm building. The nose bowl & spinner I have were designed for the Barracuda & I really want to use them as the large spinner really looks great & makes the airplane.
My problem is that to clear the right front cylinder head I need to either have a hump to clear the front cylinder corner, use a prop extension, cut the cooling baffle lug off the cylinder head or make the nose bowl I have wider by a couple inches. Maybe a combination of these things.
I posted on the Firewall Forward section of this forum the question of cutting the cooling baffle lugs off of the cylinders & this may be an option but I'd like to explore the idea of making my existing carbon fiber nose bowl wider.
I know this will not be easy with maintaining the spinner diameter & a smooth curve to the shape perimount.
What say ye builders with a lot more composite skill & know how than me?
Thanks!
David
