There is just one video sequence existing of that critter, I'm wondering how such a bird slightly modified would look today?!

Two things I would change, the pilots position into a supine sitting layout and a tail-dragger configuration.

How much would such a bird weight?

A 4 to 5" irrigation tube as a fuselage, it wouldn't get much simpler then this, with a 20hp engine, it would be almost overpowered. ;-)
