probably best to work with materials you know, because to design even a copy is a somewhat big elephant to swallow.
My remarks entirely. I think the best course of method is to start on the fuselage and procure the appropriate tubing for the job. It will take some understanding as the plans featured in the 1931 manual has the basic layout and dimensions. The wings and such will come to some point which will give time to know what to do there.

I think it might be better to get the design down before you order very much in the way of materials.
