My Parasol with the C-120 wings I have decided to metalize. The ribs will be eight degrees from parallel to the line of flight and with the fabric clips would look funny. Now I can flush rivet the skins and it will look fine.

Metalizing will actually be lighter than the fabric for several reasons. I have removed the drag and anti drag wires and compression angles on the ribs. I won't need a rear strut and that will save alot of weight. I have removed the rear strut fittings. With the compression angles gone the skin will sit flat on the spar cap unlike the Cessna 120 wings you see done on STC's with lumps and bumps under the skin. I have added angles you can see in the pictures to tie the ribs to the spar web full length and removed the part of the rib that went over the spar caps. The skins will be .020 2024T-3 and will weigh about 26 pounds per wing. I will add two or three full length L angle stringers span wise to give better torsional rigidity. I am torn between cutting the flange of the stringer or notching the ribs, I will joggle the cap of the rib in any case so the stringers sit flush, any thoughts?
