Hi Folks,
I'd like to hear some thoughts on where to run the main spar through the cockpit on a conventional, single seat, tractor, low/mid wing monoplane. It seems like the two regular options are a low wing spar under the pilot's knees, or a mid-wing spar above and rearward of the knees. I can think of pros and cons for both. Assuming something that looks vaguely like a Sonerai / Cassutt / Volksplane, where would you run the spar and why? For argument's sake, assume no strut bracing, just a good solid spar (probably with crossover tangs and two through bolts/pins, like a modern glider or Janowski J-2 or Spacek SD-1).
Thanks,
Jon
