    This idea does seem reasonable as I'd likely place it in the passenger seat as I wouldn't put two people in my airplane in the serious heat of the day flying. My only concern is with some of the rough and tumble flying that I get into. Went to a local field recently that was about 20 minutes away and the morning flight over was really nice. But I knew with the winds (8kt G 18Kt) and thermals (OAT mid 90's) that the mid-day trip home would be like riding a bull and waiting for the horn to blow.

    It was all that and then some! If I had an ice chest 1/2 full of water it would have been mostly empty by the time I got back on the ground :D. But I'm guessing there's workarounds for that part also. Here is a video I found interesting. I wouldn't need a unit a large as he shows though:

    I remember that Popular Science article about the "air" AC unit.
    What about thermoelectric cool plates sewn into a vest?
    Or a cheap 12v compressor that runs refrigerant to a vest?
