Could part of the heat issue have been fuel? It was designed to run on 72 octane?
It could well have played a part but I still think “hot enough to burn up magnetos” puts a pretty hard cap on how much power you want that engine to try and make.

Anyone have a Jabiru Crank mounting spec sheet lying around?

I'm looking to work up a mounting flange affixed to the fly side taper shaft.
Bonus points if you can find Sae #2 flange with lightening holes shown.
Hmmm, maybe start with Kawasaki big block crank Fly taper drawing,??

no spec sheet but the installation drawing from the Gen4. Straight face mounting with 3 dowel pins and 6 retaining bolts.

I have a Jabiru 3300. 4" bolt circle with 1/2" drive lugs. I can measure the lightening holes today.

Well I couldn't measure. I thought I taken the cowling off but it is still on. I might get it off in a few days. Looking between the spinner and cowl at the hub, it looks like the lightening holes are 5/8" to 3/4".
