Recently I flew my LSA (Falcon XP) and noticed as soon as I got airborne that it was going to be a bumpy ride! Given the 38ft wingspan, and the light weight of the aircraft at only 500 lbs, it definatly tossed me around a bit, and at a few times, it was almost all I could do just to keep it straight and level.
When I landed, the approach was ugly, but I was able to make a good touchdown and landing a little left of centerline (almost a direct crosswind). I asked the guy working behind the desk, and he said winds were 9 gusting to 14 knots.
Flying a large 300,000+ pound aircraft in these winds is really no big deal, as that is what I do for a living. But in my little Falcon, it was a bit scary.
I know it will come down to personal decision and comfort level when deciding how much wind is too much, but I am curious what other peoples comfort level is, and when it is that you draw the line that the winds are to strong.
