Like the subject says; electric propulsion gets all the attention nowadays, but we all know where that's going (not far, not fast). I wonder, though, how much can be saved in fuel, hobbs time, emissions, etc with ENGINE-OFF electric motor (driving the wheels directly) taxiing? Would this be feasible at all? If so, would it be more-so, less-so, or about evenly-so on a GA or commercial scale?
Just a though experiment. I'm no aviator, but I'd love to see your comments on the idea!
