Please forgive a naive question.
Whilst I fully recognise that washers are designed to "spread the load", can any one advise just what would be the purpose of washers under the fabric retaining rivet heads (as called for in procedure manuals) on, for example wing ribs, under the following situation.
1. an uncertified aircraft similar to an Ultralight, thus no requirement to meet the Ceconite/Poly Fiber TSO or other such regulations
2. the specified 0..016 ali washer is exactly the same O/D as the ali rivet head (in this particular case).
