which software did you use and what display. Do you get 975 UAT . My current phone will not take ADSB Receiver Pro HIZ LLC so I am not sure if I want to buy another phone or what.

I literally followed the advice in this link: https://apps4av.com/2014/07/30/10-adsb-receiver-for-avare/
The hardware:
Dongle: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01K5K3858/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
OTG Cable: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009DFCCKO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Aerial: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01GFU5BBG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It works on both my Samsung Tab A (2016) and my Moto G phone although the Samsung does a better job. It does tend to use up the battery though. I get about an hour and a half from a full battery. I have been experimenting with different OTG cables and splitters to see if I can get a battery pack into the mix, but no joy so far. Another line of attack might be to run the ADS-B bit on the phone with the display turned off and Avare on the Samsung. Getting the two to talk is defeating me at the moment. I'm still experimenting.

Complete failure on the 978 UAT so far. I seem to have all the parts I need, but I don't get a single packet. I have been assuming a USA/UK difference, but in building an answer for you, I noticed this:

I might try this HIZ app tonight if I can find time.

I hope those links work! [edit: bugger, they didn't! Attempt 2...]

I just tried it and it certainly doesn't work. I'm not that bothered about weather, I don't usually do flights of sufficient duration that a pre-flight weather briefing doesn't cover it. I'm just a bit disappointed that they haven't got it working yet.

Thank you for contacting Nooelec and for your interest in our projects.

In order to receive both 1090 ES and 975 UAT at the same time, you will need to have 2 SDRs with 1 antenna each, ideally tuned the frequency that you are interested in. The Stratux bundles that we offer include 2 SDRs and at least 2 antennas, each programmed to either 1090 or 975 for best reception of these signals.

With regards to the adapter in the Nano 3 OTG bundle, it will not power your tablet, but it will power the SDR so that your tablet battery will not drain faster than normal as a result of powering the SDR.

Interesting! I tried the Y-cable approach to try and extend the battery life. I noticed that it wasn't charging the phone and gave up. It didn't occur to me that it might be powering the Nano. I'll have to try it again and see if the tablet lasts longer.
