Could someone knowledgeable on the subject enlighten me as to how a side tilting canopy on a composite aircraft (like a Long EZ) is bonded to the skirt and how the skirt interfaces with the fuselage?
Does the skirt sandwich the plastic on both sides or only capture the inside/outside? Is it cold bonded with a glue rather than epoxy bonded during cure? If the former then is the skirt layed up right on the canopy with a release spacer (layers of duct tape) used to create a glue gap?
After the skirt is bonded to the canopy does it sit in a groove in the fuselage or only on the inside of a lip, etc? How does the outside of the skirt remain flush with the sidewall?

Thanks folks.
